Ministers donates relief funds to less privileged in Daura
The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has donated N11 million cash to the less privileged in Daura, Katsina, following COVID-19 lockdown of the local governnment area.
The Special Assistant to the Minister, Mr Aliyu Shargalle, who handed over the money on Friday, said that the donation cut across the 11 wards in Daura.
Kaduna begins eLearning for its students
The Kaduna State University says on Friday that it has commenced online lectures for its students at home during the ‘lockdown’ period.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Muhammad Tanko, who said this in a statement in Kaduna, added that the lectures were in line with the directive of the Federal Ministry of Education.
‘Nigerians are refusing to submit themselves for tests’ – NCDC
Due to fear of stigma, potential contacts of COVID-19 cases have refused to report themselves for test, the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, has said.
Ihekweazu while speaking at the daily Presidential Task Force (PTF) briefing on Thursday said this is preventing the health agency from effectively carrying out its duty.
Enugu, Ogun, Rivers discharge COVID-19 patients
The Enugu government has discharged its second COVID-19 patient.
Ikechukwu Obi, the state commissioner for health, announced this in a statement on Thursday evening.
Also, six COVID-19 patients in all have been discharged in Ogun.
The state government disclosed the recoveries in a tweet on Thursday.
The second COVID-19 patient in Rivers will be discharged any moment from now.
Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike disclosed this in a press conference at the Government House on Friday.
FG relief committee donate N1.5bn to fight COVID-19
Bothered by spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Presidential Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Committee, set up in 2012 by the Federal Government and led by the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has given N1.5 billion to fight the virus.
Announcing the donation after a meeting on Thursday, Dangote said it was imperative for well-meaning Nigerians to help the Federal Government in fighting the virus.
